Small yard engine built by the Plymouth Locomotive Works, Plymouth, Ohio, USA.  Shipped by Plymouth new on July 11, 1930.

 

Serial #3519.  Model ML-8 type 3.  Standard gauge, with Cummins Diesel, Model HIP-600.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Purchased used, by the City of Winnipeg Works and Operations Department for use in Tecumseh Yard in Winnipeg, from Brooks Equipment Ltd., King Edward at Notre Dame, August 7, 1952.  Previous ownership Western Dominion Coal Mines, Taylorton, Saskatchewan.  Was a replacement for Plymouth gasoline locomotive 668-5586.  Purchase price $8,500 including spare parts.

 

Moved on a flatcar by Canadian Pacific from Bienfait, Saskatchewan on July 24, 1952 to Tecumseh Yard at a cost of $500.

 

Leased by Midwestern Rail Association from City of Winnipeg.

 

 

 

 

Original condition pictured at left.

 

The original radiator has been replaced by a Euclid model.

The engine was cleaned and repainted by MRA volunteers in 2005. Length restoration will include cleaning and painting inside the cab, replacing the instruments if we can find the right ones, and replacing the windows.
